Social control is the right and duty of citizens to participate individually or through their organizations, social networks and institutions, in the monitoring of public management and its results.

What should I take into account if I want to do social control?

To carry out social control exercises, you can take into account the following:

• Law 1757 of 2015 «By which provisions are issued regarding the promotion and protection of the right to democratic participation«, articles 60 to 72.
• Law 850 of 2003 «Through which citizen oversight is regulated«
• The modalities of social control defined by article 63 of Law 1757 of 2015: Citizen oversight offices, Surveillance Boards, Development and Social Control Committees of Public Home Services, citizen audits and instances of citizen participation. Taking into account that, in matters of home public services, social control must be subject to the special regulations contained in Law 142 of 1994.

Can I apply social control to the hiring of the Military Industry?

The Military Industry has a Citizen Participation Spaces Satisfaction Survey that serves as a tool to understand the perception of value groups in relation to citizen participation spaces. This survey is completed with the participants every time a participation space is held during the validity period and is available:

Yes, the Military Industry has created a site where citizens and their value groups can consult the responses delivered to citizens and oversight bodies within the framework of their social control exercises, which can be consulted in the section Citizen Oversight 

Have improvement actions been incorporated as results of social control exercises?

As mentioned in the Accountability section, the Military Industry annually incorporates improvement actions as a result of the dialogue spaces developed with citizens and their value groups, which can be consulted in the accountability follow-ups, which are prepared by the Office of Internal Control.
