This October 25, the Colombian Military Industry celebrates its sixty-first anniversary. It is a source of satisfaction to have an organization that has grown stronger over the years and is preparing to face the new social and economic challenges that lie ahead for the country.
It is worth mentioning that the evolution presented by Indumil since the time of its foundation is the result of the hard work of all its officials who, with dedication, commitment and initiative, have managed to position the Colombian Military Industry as one of the most solid companies in its field and committed to strengthening the Security and Defense of the nation.
A brief account of the history of Indumil shows the evolution that the organization has presented in all its component aspects. In 1954, when the Military Industry was created, under the name of the Mechanical Arts Workshop, it began with a portfolio that did not exceed 10 products. Currently, the needs posed by the economy and our clients have generated a significant increase in the offer, going from 10 to 160 products and services.
The increase in sales that the organization has presented in the last 40 years supports the improvement in the processes that have been developed and the expansion of our target markets. We went from receiving 92,770 million (in today's pesos) from sales to 444,006 million in 2014, which represents a variation of 380%.
This diversification in business lines has made it possible for Indumil to currently have a workforce of 1,500 employees, a figure that has a marked tendency to increase each year.
This significant development has been possible due to the timely response that Indumil has generated to the needs and challenges that the market imposes every day. Its processes of adaptation to continuous changes in the context and its environment have allowed it to not only guarantee its sustainability, but also maintain healthy growth throughout its 61 years of history.
Proof of continuous improvement and the search for business excellence is the strengthening of our Quality Management System. Indumil recently celebrated 50 years of betting on a productive affiliation with Icontec, which has allowed it to be at the forefront of standardization and adoption of the best business practices.
We are a socially responsible company that works to consolidate security and national defense, as a principle of our organization, to which is added the commitment to the environment, the development of increasingly cleaner processes and the conservation of integrity physical and social of our interest groups.
With this brief description of the results obtained thanks to the commitment and suitability of our human talent, we want to show that the Military Industry is an organization that is sustainable over time, profitable and prepared to face the challenges that lie ahead in the near future.
