Through the Vice Ministry of Defense for the Social and Business Group of the Colombian Ministry of Defense (GSED), Colombia will hold its First Meeting of the Defense Industrial Base between August 24 and 25.
The event, which will be chaired by the Vice Minister, General (RA) José Javier Pérez, has the support and backing of the National Planning Department (DNP), as well as the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the National Association of Industrialists (ANDI). , and will be held in the city of Cartagena de Indias.
The objective of the meeting is to promote the productive development of the defense industry thanks to the implementation of synergistic projects between the private sector and the Administration. During the meeting, the aim is also to bring together the various national companies in this sector, including suppliers, certification houses and international actors, who through strategic alliances can promote dual-use products and processes (military/civilian).
This first meeting will be opened by the president of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, who will be accompanied by his Minister of Defense, and where Simón Gaviria, director of the DNP, will participate as a speaker, as well as the president of the Cotecmar shipyard, rear admiral Jorge Enrique Carreño; the general manager of the CIAC, general (RA) Flavio Ulloa; and senior managers from Indumil, Codaltec and GSED.
