The daily work of Citizen Service of the Military Industry of Colombia – Indumil, has been affected by the confusion of clients when having to carry out a procedure related to the carrying of weapons and other accessories controlled by the General Command of the Military Forces – CGFM, through the Arms Trade Control Department – DCCA. Well, the majority assure that both Indumil and the controlling entity -DCCA- are the same entity, when this is not the case.
Therefore, below, the functions of these two entities that do work together, but are not a single entity, are clarified.
Military Industry – Indumil
It is the entity designated by the National Government to manufacture, import and market weapons, ammunition, explosives, controlled accessories and their complementary services, to the Public Force, natural and legal persons, with due authorization from the Arms Trade Control Department – DCCA. .
Arms Trade Control Department – DCCA
It is the only entity in Colombia, in charge of controlling and authorizing the sale of weapons, ammunition, explosives and controlled chemical substances at the national level.
- Issuance and revalidation of carry and possession permits.
- Weapon transfers
- Weapon system registration information.
- Voluntary surrender of weapons.
- Disclaimers
- Possession permits to carry.
At the national level you can carry out the procedures at the authorized headquarters, located in the Military Brigades of each city. With the exception of Bogotá, which has its headquarters in the INDUMIL building, on the first floor.
Due to the location of this headquarters in the INDUMIL building, users have identified the DCCA as part of the Military Industry, however it is necessary to clarify that they are different entities. This has caused several requests daily to be directed to Indumil and therefore delay their processing.
Indumil and the DCCA do work together. The DCCA grants permits for a citizen or member of the Public Force to carry and register a weapon, use explosives or controlled chemical substances in Colombian territory, and transfer weapons.
Indumil manufactures and produces weapons, ammunition, explosives and blasting accessories, products that, for possession and carrying, must be authorized by the Arms Trade Control Department – DCCA.
