Bogotá, August 19, 2016. Colombia will show the offer of goods and services from the Defense sector to national and international buyers during the meeting of the private and military industries that will be held on August 24 and 25 in the city of Cartagena with more of 400 guests from various countries.

The purpose of the two days of deliberations is to generate synergies to create productive chains that facilitate access to international markets and the insertion of Colombian suppliers into local, regional and global value chains.

For the organizers of the meeting, which will have the participation of nearly 400 national and international industrialists, the aim is to consolidate an alliance to promote the productive development of the national industry that drives the economy in the post-conflict scenario.

For this reason, in addition to companies in the Defense sector, potential suppliers and buyers, certification houses and foreign actors will attend the event in order to establish strategic alliances for the development of specific goods and services for military and civil use in the national and international environment.

“It is about strengthening an alliance of private industry and the Defense sector for the productivity and competitiveness of Colombia,” said Gabriel Cifuentes, director of Justice, Security and Government of the National Planning Department (DNP).
For his part, the vice minister of Defense for the Social and Business Group of Defense and Welfare (GSED), Jose Javier Pérez, highlighted the enormous growth that this sector has had in recent years, “so we must strengthen its export vocation based on the great capabilities it has developed.”

According to sector figures, in the last 3 years (2013-2015) exports of goods went to 16 countries, mainly to Israel (42.5%), Brazil (41.9%) and the USA (9.6%). ).

The Security and Defense industry contributes to the development of sectors such as metalworking, shipbuilding, logistics, aerospace and technology.

In the meeting, which will be held at the Castillogrande Naval Club, and will be installed by President Juan Manuel Santos, Defense industrial companies such as Cotecmar, Indumil, Codaltec, the Colombian Aeronautical Industry Corporation (CIAC) and the Logistics Agency of the Military Forces.
