From 2009 to 2013, within the framework of the investment projects promoted by the Defense Social and Business Group-GSED, the Military Industry together with the University of the Andes, began in-depth research in the field of alternative energies, specifically in relation to energy, wind, solar, hydraulic and also energy generated by human muscular action. At the academic faculty level, these activities were developed by students and teachers of the Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, where prototypes of wind, hydraulic, and human muscular action generators were built.
For a year, the behavior of solar panels of various technologies was continuously monitored. To carry out continuous monitoring of these solutions, test benches were designed and built and software applications were adapted for them. In general terms, this research provided the Military Industry with theoretical and practical knowledge in alternative energies applicable to the development of products for the industrial sector.
In addition to the research described above, from 2007 to 2009, the Military Industry manufactured disposable batteries for the Colombian Army to be used in various models of communication radios, which generated the necessary expertise to turn this development into a complement. for the operation of alternative energy bodies, which seek to replace the use of electrical energy through the use of this type of tools and therefore savings in resources.
It is necessary to mention that in May 2014, the Colombian state approved law 1715 "by means of which the integration of non-conventional renewable energies into the National Energy System is regulated", in addition it created at the national level with international projection, the use of alternative energies in the fields of agricultural biomass, energy from waste, solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, development of small hydroelectric projects and use of energy from the seas.
In this sense, the Military Industry, supported by its experience in manufacturing, the knowledge resulting from research and the technological infrastructure it has in metalworking, electronics, plastics, chemistry, among others, decided to venture into the field of alternative energies. by setting up a plant for assembly and production of equipment, destined for the military and civil market, which will undoubtedly help current and future generations, in the conservation of a better planet to live on.
