The Command of the Thirteenth Brigade of the National Army is permitted to inform public opinion that:
1. After rigorously analyzing the measure on the restriction on carrying weapons 24 hours a day in the capital of the republic, as requested a few days ago by the mayor of Bogotá and taking into account that during 2011 the restriction was in force 172 Of the 365 days of the year, which represents at least 48% of the total time, this military unit finds no impediment to supporting the request made by the district administration.
2. The measure restricting the carrying of weapons has been implemented gradually in the city and over significant periods of time, so it is not considered traumatic to expand it.
3. The measure will be initially implemented for a period of 90 days in order to be evaluated and will be accompanied by prevention campaigns against the proliferation of illegal weapons.
4. This decision also aims to guarantee the security and tranquility of the capital's residents, as well as contribute through a frontal fight to the proliferation of illegal weapons.
