ES Innovation Project
The Military Industry of Colombia – INDUMIL, within its Corporate Social Responsibility projects, is carrying out a research and technological development project in conjunction with the Nueva Granada Military University and the Central Military Hospital that seeks, with national technology, to create and manufacture a limb prosthesis lower, that is appropriate to the needs of disabled people in our armed conflict and/or people injured in various circumstances.
The need arises due to the large number of disabled people who are currently served through the implementation of imported prostheses, which are very expensive abroad, and are designed for people of size and build different from those that characterize the Colombian race.
The project is being carried out using cutting-edge technologies in simulation, computer-aided design, gait analysis, and rapid prototyping, with design and knowledge purely from our Colombian professionals.
The Project is developed in three phases, currently it is in phase 2, which is the construction of a polycentric mechanism, which simulates the natural movement of the knee.
For the Colombian Military Industry – INDUMIL, this type of project represents the opportunity to carry out a synergy between entities of the Defense Social and Business Group – GSED, providing knowledge and own technological resources, with budgets that benefit the technological development of the country and the disabled population as a step towards their rehabilitation into society.
