This new recognition adds to the one received the previous year that classified Indumil as one of the companies that registers the highest number of patents in Colombia.
With the objective of encouraging investment by private companies in innovation activities, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Colciencias and the National Planning Department, recognized the first group of Highly Innovative Companies in the country, this list is headed by Bancolombia , Conconcreto and Indumil.
“These companies passed a strict evaluation process to demonstrate that they are Highly Innovative. Therefore, we recognize their commitment to innovation by granting them automatic access to tax benefits, deducting from their income tax up to 175% of the investment they make in innovation projects. We hope that more companies follow the example of these leaders and incorporate systematic innovation into their business strategy,” said the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Cecilia Álvarez-Correa.
Some of the criteria taken into account to recognise the companies were: having defined processes and organisational structure for innovation, as well as an annual budget allocated for research, development and innovation activities of no less than 0.3% of gross sales or showing an annual growth rate of this budget of no less than 10% accumulated over the last 3 years, verifying the introduction of innovations in the market equivalent to 10% of the product portfolio in the last 3 years and accrediting the professional suitability of the people linked to the innovation process.
At Indumil these innovation and development projects are led by the Technical Deputy Management at the head of the Research and Development Division, made up of a group of highly qualified professionals who are in charge of designing and providing continuity to this type of innovative proposals, with which It seeks to fulfill the entity's strategic objective of innovating and developing new products and services that improve processes and allow continuity to the entity's modernization and transformation program.
Among the projects currently being carried out are:
-The protection of intellectual property developments.
-Product certification of the Córdova Indumil pistol.
-Development of electric power generation pilots using alternative energies.
-Development of non-lethal weapons among others.
We give well-deserved recognition to the Technical Deputy Management, the Research and Development Division and all areas of the organization that participate in the structuring and implementation of these systemic innovation processes.
