Implementation of a Field for the Generation of Photovoltaic Energy for the Santa Bárbara Factory

As a result of the opportunity that Indumil saw in technological advancement in regards to clean energy and rational use of the resource, in 2021 project 9852 was structured, which consisted of the “Acquisition, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Solar Park for the Santa Bárbara Factory”, which would allow direct costs to be reduced, associated with the high consumption that occurs in the factory's production processes, thus obtaining savings of up to 40%.

With this project, it is expected to generate an average of 2.1 GWh/year, in addition to improving business sustainability indices, reducing its annual carbon footprint by 640 tons of CO2, which is equivalent to plant 106,136 trees, projecting itself as a cutting-edge company in the implementation of alternative energies for the region and the country.

Additionally, this project is framed in the development and implementation associated with the “Colombia Carbon Neutral (ECCN)” strategy, led by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, promoting climate empowerment, contributing to the goal of reducing 51% emissions. of greenhouse gases by 2030 and carbon neutrality in Colombia by 2050.

On the other hand, based on the technical study carried out by the firm TECNOLIM within the framework of project 9032 and according to the research report, the implementation of the Solar Park at one (1) MW/h of power at the Santa Bárbara Factory, issued favorable the following concept:

(…) “Given the solar potential of the area of influence and its feasibility of application, in addition to an effective return on investment, the feasibility is defined for the installation of a Photovoltaic Solar Park for the FASAB factory of the Indumil company, located in the municipality of Sogamoso – Boyacá. This solar park is defined with the objective of generating part of the electrical energy currently consumed by the factory; The installation is made up of a photovoltaic solar energy plant connected to the electrical grid through an array of inverters for a power of 1MWn. The installation consists of a distribution of solar modules in a structure on the land defined by FASAB for this purpose, which is supported on the ground.

Based on the above, the implementation and execution of the Solar park for the Santa Bárbara factory presents progress dated September 9, 2022 of the 70%, equivalent to the installation of structures, modules and inverters.

Currently, Indumil is working on the research and implementation of projects with the same technical characteristics, based on recent technologies in clean energy sources, with a view to implementing and installing in the FEXAR factories (Fábrica de Explosivos Antonio Ricaurte and FAGECOR (Fábrica General José María Córdova) in the future.
