The Military Industry constantly develops new products in the metalworking area aimed at supporting the National Industry. This is how, within its areas of action, it has carried out activities that satisfy the needs of the Colombian naval sector, taking advantage of its capabilities in: engineering, design, development, leveraged on computational tools such as assisted design, simulation and engineering analysis software, as well as computer-assisted manufacturing capabilities, expertise and innovation in the casting process, precision machining, thermal and surface treatments, inspection and process control. An example of this is the project for the national manufacture of dock wheels for the company COTECMAR 1, an important Colombian naval industry.
The shipyard dock wheel 2 corresponds to a substantial component within the ship maneuvering and transfer system in the shipyard, whose maintenance or repair activities require that the ships be taken out of the water, placed in different positions on the dock and finally returned to the sea. . These wheels support the carts of the mechanical synchro-elevator transfer system, in addition to providing support in new constructions to perform different launching maneuvers of the ship into the water once it is built.
The project for the national manufacture of wheels for dock dock arises from a specific need of the client. Its main objective is the replacement of a product of imported origin that presents difficulties in delivery times and high costs, adapting it to the particular needs and the improvements that it has wanted to introduce due to its many years of experience in using them. .
After analyzing the applicable technical and commercial aspects, Indumil accepted this new challenge. "Challenge that is based on the company's product development strategy, applies a multidisciplinary approach and encourages the interaction of the commercial area with the technique and the production plant to develop this process."
Based on the experience acquired in this project, the Military Industry is carrying out other related developments such as: development of wheels for mining cars, wheels for shipyards for different transfer systems, zinc anodes for cathodic protection of ship hulls and spare parts. for machinery in the naval, cement, brick, mining, sugar mills, food and metalworking industries in general.
